50 bitcoin mined just about a month after the genesis block have moved for the first time ever with it unclear why they have moved or who moved them.
Block 3654 was mined on the 9th of February 2009, with 50 bitcoins generated which remained there until they were sent today to two new addresses.
There are some one million bitcoin in addresses reasonably suspected to belong to Satoshi Nakamoto, the bitcoin inventor, based on nonce analysis.
Sergio Demian Lerner, who came up with that nonce analysis, has now stated this particular block is not suspected of being Nakamoto’s.
So that makes all this less interesting except that whale alert initially stated this is a “possible Satoshi owned wallet” which does not appear to be the case.
Numerous individuals mined bitcoin in the very early days with Nakamoto announcing it in a mailing list months before the genesis block.
He also reached out by email to numerous individuals, some of whom presumably would have mined from the get go once the genesis block was published.
As such factually we only know Nakamoto has mined the genesis block and block 9 as that was a publicized transfer of coins.
Others were free to mine the rest, so we can’t know for sure if a block was mined by Nakamoto, but that these early coins have moved is interesting even if it isn’t Nakamoto as they held them for more than a decade and suddenly they transferred some to a new segwit address.
Meaning either someone completely forgot about these coins and suddenly found them, or the clown show with faketoshi continues, or maybe these are Hal Finney coins and they are being moved by the estate, or it’s just an old bitcoiner that needs a yacht for this lovely summer with these 50 coins worth some half a million.
